Garage Door Questions, Answered Plainly

Answers on what we fix, where we drive, and who you're calling at Moses Lake Garage Door Pros - straight talk, no history lesson, no invented numbers.

Do you work on doors from the 1960s or 70s, or just newer ones?

Older doors are most of what we see here, given how much of the housing stock dates to that era. We work on original torsion and extension spring setups from that period, including hardware that's been modified once or twice since. If a part's been discontinued, we'll tell you before we start, not after.

Do you come out to Warden or Ephrata?

Yes. Warden is about 15 miles from our shop on Road 3 NE, and Ephrata is roughly 18. Both are within our regular travel range, along with Cascade Valley and Moses Lake North, which are closer in.

Should I repair my spring or replace the whole door?

Depends on the door's age and what else is wearing out. If the panels and opener are solid and it's just the spring, repair makes sense. If you're looking at a spring, a bad opener, and a dented panel all at once on an older door, replacement is often the more honest answer, and we'll say so.

Is there a wait for parts?

Sometimes, yes. Certain opener components and older-style panels aren't stock items on the truck, and depending on what's needed, there can be a delay getting them in. We'll flag that at the time we look at the door, not after we've already taken it apart.

What's your address if I need to find you?

6446 Road 3 NE, Moses Lake, WA 98837. Call ahead at (509) 204-9627 so we know you're coming and can have the right parts loaded if we already know what the job is.

What We Actually Do

We work on the door itself and everything that moves it: torsion and extension springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, panels, and openers. If a door won't open, won't close, slams, drifts off its track, or makes a noise it didn't used to make, that's the kind of call we take.

A lot of the houses in this area went up between 1958 and 1987, with the median landing around 1969. That matters more than people expect. A door from that era is often running original torsion hardware sized for a lighter panel, or extension springs on a setup that was never meant to carry a modern insulated door. When we're out at a house like that, half the job is figuring out what's actually original versus what's been swapped once already.

What we don't do: we're not a general handyman service, and we don't touch the structural opening itself - framing, headers, that's a carpenter's job, not ours. If a door needs a new header because the old one's rotted out, we'll tell you that straight and point you to someone who does that work, rather than bolt new hardware to bad wood.

Where We Travel

  1. We're based at 6446 Road 3 NE in Moses Lake

And most of our calls stay close: Cascade Valley is about 3 miles out, Moses Lake North around 5. We also run out to Warden, roughly 15 miles, and Ephrata, about 18 miles, when the job's there. The area we cover works out to something like 6,972 households, with 2,782 of those being owner-occupied houses rather than rentals.

  2. That split matters for how we talk to people

An owner deciding whether to repair or replace is making a different call than a property manager who just wants the door working by Friday. If you're outside that rough radius, call anyway. Distance isn't always a hard no, it just affects when we can get there.

Who You Are Dealing With

We're not going to give you a founding year or a headcount, because padding this page with numbers that don't mean anything to your door isn't the point. What matters is what we do when we're standing in your driveway: we look at the spring, the track, the opener, tell you what's actually wrong, and give you the honest version of what it costs to fix versus replace.

Median household income in this area runs around $56,084, and that number shapes a lot of our advice. On an older door with a worn-out opener and a cracked panel, replacement often makes more financial sense than three separate repairs spread over two years. We'll say that out loud even when the repair would be the easier sale for us.

One limitation worth knowing up front: certain opener parts and some older panel styles aren't things we keep on the truck, and depending on the part, there can be a wait to get it in. We'll tell you at the door if that's the situation, not after we've already started.
